A few Updates - Please Open!
1) Happy Resurrection Weekend! I hope you are keeping Sunday simple, lovely, and full of joy! Consider inviting someone who might be alone that day home with you to share your meal. Look through your directory and invite someone! You will probably make their day.

How true is this sign - No BUNNY loves you like JESUS!
2) I went on a walk and passed by a neighbor's house in my old neighborhood, noticed it was for sale, and learned that the owner had died. He was only 78; a retired doctor. Our sole conversation took place in his driveway a year ago and he talked a lot about real estate, retirement funds, etc. He certainly wasn't planning on dying soon. This conversation took place before I was comfortable in knowing how to share the Gospel, so this week I actually set out on this walk in the hopes of running into him, as he has been on my mind. But it was too late. He is dead. That makes me sad.
I'm reading a surprisingly interesting book called Marilyn in Fashion; the Enduring Influence of Marilyn Monroe, filled with beautiful pictures of her timeless fashion choices. She really knew how to dress! If she had lived, she'd be 99 on June 1, 2025; instead, we still see her as young. But she is dead. And she probably didn't obey the Gospel. That too makes me sad.
We have insurance for absolutely everything in our society, don't we? Car insurance, home insurance, renter's insurance, health insurance, eye insurance, dental insurance, pet insurance, life insurance... It can all be very helpful, can't it? It's also very expensive.
Yet the majority of people don't have soul insurance, the only insurance that is free, and that has an everlasting benefit.
Today I am reading an 18 page booklet called The Many Facets of Your Salvation by Stanley Sherman, Lydia Sherman's husband (Lydia of Homemaker's Radio - homeliving.blogspot.com).
If you don't have soul insurance, please listen to this book, and maybe even get in touch with Stanley himself to discuss it. You can e-mail me for his contact information.
I pray that through it you learn how to know for sure if you are saved. Don't just think you know, but actually know!
3) The free service that alerts you to my blog posts and video releases is going away on June 1st. I will do my best to get a new service set up. I am looking into the Follow. It service. I will transfer over everyone on my list (if I can figure out how to do that!). I will keep you updated as to my progress. Just know that my e-mails coming into your in box might not look the same, and of course may end up in your spam folder.
4) I will have a new Fascinating Womanhood installment out next week. After we finish FW, I have 2 other books I'd like to read to you: Beautiful Homemaking, and Happiness is Homemaking. Both are lovely books. Eventually I want to do Biblical Womanhood as well. Making the videos is fun - I enjoy reading and talking to you. What I don't enjoy is the editing and finding pictures. That's what takes so long! I'm sorry, too, that YT has so many ads - I don't have any control over that, and I don't receive any ad money, as my channel is too small, yet they still bombard you with ads. Sorry about that.
5) Thank you to everyone who has subscribed, and to those who have sent me supportive and encouraging comments and e-mails here on my blog and on my YT channel beautifulhomemaking. I appreciate it and have enjoyed getting to know so many of you, even if just a little bit. Here is a delightful Grace Livingston Hill short story "John Chamberlain's Easter Coat" that is still applicable to our times. I hope you enjoy it!
May God bless you as you bless others!
Janine
I just read this in the magazine HouseToHouse.com and it goes right along with Stanley Sherman's booklet that I read to you above, The Many Facets of Your Salvation.
From the April HousetoHouse.com newsletter: Don't Join Just ANY Church
All up and down this troubled land confusion reigns today, as honest folks on every hand in doubt are heard to say, "I cannot tell which church to join, there are so very many." To them we offer this advice -- you never should join any!
You cannot join the church of Christ; no man can vote you in. The Lord Himself will add you, when He saves you from your sin. Then take no chances, neighbor; this race but once you'll run. A church you'd join would be of man, and not the proper one.
Beware a church you cannot find within the sacred pages; Be safe, dear sinner; rest your soul upon the Rock of Ages. Be added to His blood-bought church, and drink salvation's cup. For every plant God planted not, it shall be rooted up.
No mourner's bench on Pentecost, the inspired Peter fitted, But said, "Repent and be baptized, that your sins may be remitted." The Lord, who saved and added those who did, that day, His will, Will do the same for you, dear friend, for He is adding still.
Let not false teachers lead you wrong, not close your eyes in slumber; When Jesus said, He'd build His church, Twas not in plural number! No choice of churches, neighbor mine, is found beneath the sun, Though men may have ten thousand, our Savior had but one.
"The Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:47
Thank you Janine, for your work.:) I enjoy many of your videos, especially when you add your own opinions to the FW videos.
ReplyDeleteThis was the best thing I have ever heard explaining the gospel and the debate between works and faith. Thank you so much for reading this to us, Janine. I would love to get a hard copy of this writing, if possible. Thank you again and God bless you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that, Dianne! Thanks for letting me know! Also, let me know if you are unable to get a physical copy from Lydia, and I will get one to you.
DeleteHi Janine! Have you ever read The Total Woman by Marabel Morgan?
